More Than Motor Skills: Understanding Dyspraxia in Autism

About the Course

Understanding the “Why” Behind Motor Planning Challenges

Children with autism may be labeled “clumsy” or “uncoordinated,” but for many, the real story is dyspraxia, a difference in how the brain plans, organizes, and carries out motor tasks. In this FREE caregiver webinar, Occupational Therapists Hannah Macdonald and Alyssa O’Neil will help you understand how motor planning challenges show up in daily life, from getting dressed and handwriting to playground play and social participation, and what you can do to support your child at home.

What You’ll Learn:

  • How to recognize the signs of dyspraxia across different ages and settings
  • The connection between motor planning and independence, emotional regulation, and quality of life
  • Practical strategies to support skill development at home and in the community
  • How to tell the difference between “won’t” and “can’t” when it comes to motor tasks

Whether you’re just starting to notice motor challenges or have been navigating them for a while, this session will give you tools you can use right away.

Let’s create moments of progress together.
